Bad Breath Tongue: White Tongue
Bad breath tongue – some people experience having white tongue that comes with a foul mouth order or bad breath. Bad breath tongue can sometimes be due to various health conditions that should be addressed immediately. Take note that a reddish-pink tongue shows a healthy and normal person, while a white tongue signals certain conditions like infections. There are several factors that may cause a person to have a white tongue.
Common Causes…
Some of the most common causes of bad breath tongue or white tongue are oral candidiasis, leukoplakia, oral thrush and geographic tongue. These conditions can cause the tongue to appear whitish instead of its normal red color. If a person is suffering from any of these conditions, this can cause bad breath or halitosis.
Physician Consultation…
If you think you are having bad breath tongue due to these conditions, it would be best to consult your physician immediately. Take note that you cannot get rid of the foul odor in your mouth if the primary cause of the condition is not properly addressed. However, you should also know that there are lots of ways to prevent having bad breath due to white tongue.
Leukoplakia…
Bad breath tongue or white tongue goes hand in hand with halitosis or bad breath. The treatment for white tongue depends on what is causing the condition. If your bad breath is due to oral candidiasis, this can be relieved by applying an oral anti-fungal medication. If you have dentures that are ill-fitted, you can ask your dentist to have them adjusted to solve the problem. Regular consumption of alcoholic beverages as well as smoking can also cause white tongue and bad breath, especially if you are being treated for leukoplakia.
Removing White Coating…
Another way to get rid of bad breath tongue is to use a tongue scraper or brushing your tongue using a toothbrush with hard bristles and a combination of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. You can combine these in lukewarm water or salty water for best results. Make sure to properly brush or scrape your tongue until the white coating disappears.
Gargle Solution…
You can also gargle salty water and let it stay in your mouth for at least 30 seconds before spitting it out. You can also use two pinches of cayenne pepper instead of salt in lukewarm water. Allow the solution to sit in your mouth for as long as you can hold. Take note that cayenne pepper can help draw out the mucus inside and is great for the throat.
Underlying Causes…
These are some of the available bad breath tongue solutions for you. However, before deciding to opt for any of these, make sure to consult your physician first to determine what is causing your bad breath or your white tongue. If there is a serious underlying cause, then it would be best to ask your physician for remedies in order to cure the foul odor due to white tongue. If the condition is nothing serious, then you can simply practice the solutions given above until you have completely relieved yourself from bad breath or foul mouth odor.
